Is nofollow killing the golden goose?

The question of why Google implemented nofollow will be a subject of debate in the future. However, is nofollow killing the golden goose? It means that zero tweets from twitter are followed. Also that zero links in Youtube are followed. You can get a picture of over 80% of the web is no longer followed.
