Is it ethical to alter photos?

One of the most pressing questions that dominates many discussions of web masters that take place in the highly competitive world of the internet is - Is it ethical to alter photos?

Think about it. It's not just lying. It is - thou shall not steal. A deliberately decietful photo can cost you the buyer. Also it can ruin the rep of a seller. Most sellers that think buyer do not mind "enhanced" photos never step into the shoes of the buyer.

As Jesus "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you." Few buyers would want an altered photo. Most want to see what the item looks like.

When the web is a lie you trust it less. You might want to go to a physical store. At least there you can see the item you are buying. The web becomes less useful if sellers are allowed to alter pictures of products.
